Graham and I FIX
I FIX Property Maintenance is run by Graham Pickett, a builder who went into the trade straight from school and has been in it for over 25 years since. The business is based in Colchester and takes on everything from small building jobs to whole-house renovations, extensions and new builds.
It is deliberately small. You deal with Graham personally, with no third party in between, and we take on one project at a time, so a job is never left waiting while the builder is somewhere else. You are kept up to date on progress every day, so there is always room to change your mind on the details.
We work for homeowners, landlords and businesses: family homes renovated and extended, rental properties refurbished between tenants, shops and offices fitted out, and older and listed buildings repaired with the right materials. Quotes are always free.
A Federation of Master Builders member, rated on Checkatrade
I FIX is a member of the Federation of Master Builders and appears in its Find a Builder directory, which lists the trades we offer and some of our recent projects. We have also been on Checkatrade since February 2021, where customers leave a score and a review after each job.
Customers there mention the same things again and again: the work finished on time and to budget, being kept informed, honest pricing, and a builder who knows his materials. There is more on the home page, paraphrased from those reviews.

What we do
House renovations are the heart of the work, with everything that goes into them. Each service is explained in full on our services page.
- House Renovations Whole-house renovations: rooms opened up, walls moved, and new kitchens, bathrooms, floors and finishes, from one builder.
- House Refurbishments Refurbs to freshen up a tired home, or get a property ready to sell or let: repairs, plastering, floors, fixtures and decorating.
- Home Extensions Single-storey extensions, garage conversions, garden rooms and outbuildings, built from the footings up.
- Kitchen Extensions Extending at the back or side of the house for a bigger kitchen or kitchen-diner, then fitting the kitchen in the new space.
- Kitchen Renovations Old kitchens stripped out and new ones fitted: units, worktops, appliances, tiling and floors, and walls moved if the layout needs it.
- Bathroom Renovations Bathrooms, shower rooms and wet rooms renovated: the old suite out, then tiling, flooring and a new bath, shower and fittings.
- Local Builders Builders for the jobs in between: brickwork, structural repairs, new door openings, bases, flat roofs, patios and fencing.
- Building Contractors Building contractors for bigger projects: new builds, barn conversions, HMO conversions, fit-outs, listed buildings and fire and flood repairs.
